Calcium chloride is a chemical consisting of chlorine and calcium with the formula CaCl2. It is a colorless cubic crystal, the appearance of blocky, flake, granular, spherical, powdered solid, slightly toxic, odorless, slightly bitter taste. Calcium chloride releases a lot of heat when dissolved in water, has strong hygroscopic properties, and is easily deliqued when exposed to air. Soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, acetic acid, hydrazine and other polar or protic solvents, but insoluble in low polar or non-polar solvents such as ether, tetrahydrofuran and so on.

Calcium chloride is widely used in industrial and food fields. In industry, it is mainly used in oil drilling, desiccant, snow melting agent, dehydrating agent, refrigerant, antifreeze, early strength agent, dust collector, fogging agent, fire retardant, water treatment agent, refining agent, precipitating agent, coagulant, coagulant, fertilizer granulation, etc., and is also the raw material for the production of other chemical products. Physico-chemical property: colorless cube crystal. General goods is white or white porous or grain or cellular. Odourless, taste bitter. Relative density: 2.15(25ºC). Melting point:782ºC.Boiling point: above1600ºC. Good hygroscopic property, easy to deliquesce in the air. Soluble in water, meanwhile release a mass of heat, aqueous solution is subacidity. Soluble in alcohol, acetone, acetic acid. Act with ammonia ethyl alcohol, producing CaCl2 ·8NH3 and CaCl2 ·4C3H5OH complex. At normal temperature the aqueous solution crystallizes, sometimes is hexahydrate, after heating to30ºCthen it will dissolve in its crystal water. And continuously heating until dehydration, to200ºCbecomes dehydrate. And then heating to260ºC, become the white porous anhydrous calcium chloride.
